Visa and Documents to Come to Tunisia: Practical Guide
It is often the first question our patients ask: do I need a visa? Good news: most European patients do not need one for a medical stay in Tunisia. Here is everything you need to prepare before you leave.
Do I Need a Visa?
Citizens of the European Union, Switzerland and Canada are exempt from visas for a tourist or medical stay of less than 90 days in Tunisia: a valid passport is enough. For other nationalities, the conditions vary by country — your TuniMedBooking coordinator checks your exact situation before you leave.
Which Documents Should You Prepare?
Bring a passport valid for at least 3 months after your return date, your medical file (test results, prescriptions, reports) for the on-site consultation, a medical invitation letter from the clinic — which we can provide on request, useful in case of a customs check — as well as proof of accommodation and travel or health insurance, which is strongly recommended.
On Arrival
Passport control at the airport is standard, with no particular medical formalities on entering the country. A transfer is organised by your coordinator as soon as you leave the airport, to spare you any logistical stress.
Special Cases to Anticipate
If you live outside the European Union, Switzerland or Canada, check the visa formalities with the Tunisian consulate in your country early enough, before booking your tickets. A minor travelling with only one parent must also have an authorisation to leave the country, to be checked locally in their country of origin.
What We Prepare for You
TuniMedBooking takes care of the medical invitation letter if needed and sends you all the practical information before you leave. Your coordinator remains available for any administrative question, even the day before your trip.
